During Surgery
Surgery is carried out either under local anesthesia or general anesthesia. With local anesthesia, you will be awake during the surgery and anesthetic medications will be given around the eye, so you don't feel any pain. Your eye will be specially cleaned and draped, and you will be expected to stay still while surgery is going on. With general anesthesia, you will be put to sleep for the duration of the surgery and will be woken up after the surgery is over.
