Post Surgery
After surgery, it is recommended that you stay overnight in the hospital for proper monitoring. You will be commenced on oral antibiotics and pain medication. An eye pad will be placed over the operated eye to allow the eye to rest. The eye pad will be taken off the next morning, the eye cleaned with saline and your vision tested by the ophthalmic nurses. You will be asked to read the visual acuity chart with the operated eye. Afterwards, you will be examined by the ophthalmologist and topical antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drops will be commenced every 2 hours. The frequency of these will be tapered down over time. You might experience slight pain which quickly resolves as you commence medications. You will be given a follow up appointment decided by the consultant, usually 1 week from your surgery. Other appointments will be given as required
