Pre-Surgery Procedures

Pre-Surgery Procedures

If you are scheduled to undergo surgery at Eye Foundation Hospital, certain preoperative tests will be done. Refraction, which checks your need for glasses will be carried out and the anterior and posterior segments of the eyes will be examined by the ophthalmologist. Based on your diagnosis, further testing may be done such as an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Ultrasound Brightness-scan (B-Scan), Pachymetry etc.

You will be counselled on the type of procedure that is to be done and the type of anesthesia will also be decided. You will eventually be scheduled for surgery. You may be asked to come fasting depending on the type of anesthesia that is recommended. You will also be asked to do some tests like blood glucose, serology, ECG before your surgery to assess your health status
